as a junior in high school i took my first ceramics class and fell in love immediately. i found the one medium that challenged me beyond my physical and mental abilities. learning to throw was my main goal because the thought of using my strength against the weight of the clay and the force of the perpetual spinning intrigued me. how can i manipulate this pile of mud to transform it into something useful and beautiful. after graduating from high school i aimed my sights on education and put my love for ceramics on hold. after my first year in college my passion was revived because i took my first elective, which of course had to be ceramics. the revival of my lost love, four years after it had begun, had changed the whole direction of my future. i made the decision that i would one day be a ceramics teacher, i would focus my time and efforts toward a career in art.
